Program Overview:

Duration: 2 Months

Format: Online / Offline (Hybrid Mode) (Self-paced with live sessions and mentorship)

Target Audience: Beginners with a strong analytical aptitude, professionals looking to transition into data analytics, and anyone interested in building a career in data.

Classes: 1 Class / Week

Class Duration: 2 Hours / Class

Month 1: Data Foundations & Preparation

  • Week 1: Introduction to Power BI & Interface

    • Understanding Business Intelligence concepts.

    • Power BI Desktop overview: interface, components (Report, Data, Model views).

    • Connecting to various data sources (Excel, CSV, SQL Server).

    • Outcome: Navigate Power BI Desktop and import basic datasets.

  • Week 2: Data Connection & Initial Loading

    • Exploring different data connection modes (Import, DirectQuery).

    • Understanding data types and basic data profiling.

    • Loading data into Power BI.

    • Outcome: Confidently connect to diverse data sources and load data efficiently.

  • Week 3: Power Query Editor (ETL)

    • Introduction to the Power Query Editor for Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) operations.

    • Data cleaning techniques: handling missing values, removing duplicates, correcting errors.

    • Data transformation: pivoting/unpivoting, merging queries, appending queries.

    • Outcome: Clean and transform raw data into a usable format for analysis.

  • Week 4: Data Modeling Fundamentals

    • Understanding data models: fact tables, dimension tables.

    • Creating and managing relationships between tables (one-to-many, many-to-many).

    • Cardinality and cross-filter direction.

    • Outcome: Build a robust and efficient data model for analysis.

Month 2: DAX, Visualization & Sharing

  • Week 5: Introduction to DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)

    • Understanding DAX syntax and concepts (calculated columns vs. measures).

    • Creating basic calculated columns for derived data.

    • Common DAX functions (SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT, IF).

    • Outcome: Write simple DAX expressions to extend your data model.

  • Week 6: Advanced DAX Measures & Time Intelligence

    • Creating explicit measures for aggregations.

    • Understanding filter context and row context.

    • Time intelligence functions (TOTALYTD, SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR).

    • Outcome: Develop powerful DAX measures for complex analytical calculations.

  • Week 7: Report Design & Visualizations

    • Choosing appropriate visualizations (bar charts, line charts, pie charts, tables, cards).

    • Designing interactive reports: slicers, filters, drill-through.

    • Customizing visuals for clarity and impact.

    • Outcome: Create compelling and interactive data reports.

  • Week 8: Power BI Service & Collaboration

    • Publishing reports to Power BI Service.

    • Creating dashboards for executive summaries.

    • Sharing reports and dashboards, understanding workspaces.

    • Data refresh and basic security considerations.

    • Outcome: Share insights effectively and manage Power BI assets in the cloud.

This program emphasizes hands-on exercises and practical application, ensuring you gain proficiency in Power BI for real-world data analysis and reporting tasks.
